Statscan reported in Australian Journal

In a recent letter to the Australian Journal of Internal Medicine , researchers from the Inselspital in Bern Switzerland reported on their experience with the Lodox Statscan system that is installed in the Trauma Unit. Several interesting cases and some unique findings are reported on.

With reference to the diagnostic quality of the x-rays the team found no difference between Statscan and other techniques with “good all-in-one visualization of the chest and abdomen in medical emergency patients” The team concurred with other reports that there was “a favourable reduction in the time taken for resuscitation”

The team concluded that: “Due to its reduced radiation exposure (10% of conventional X-rays) it is an interesting technique to lower the biological risks of the patients as well. Additionally, a use in paediatric emergency units seems to be reasonable and the examination of pregnant women if necessary and justified”
